A garden with a purpose

“The more clearly we can focus our attention on the wonders and realities of the universe about us, the less taste we shall have for destruction.

Rachel Carson

“The need for urban gardens has never been more urgent. They aren’t a luxury—they’re essential for our environment, our health, and our future. Urban gardens offer a powerful, practical way to bring sustainability into our lives.”

Growing up in Northeast Ohio, nature was my playground. I spent countless hours exploring the woods behind my childhood home—climbing dirt mounds, wading through creeks, and picking wild blackberries. These early experiences of roaming freely in nature, seeing the world in such a profound way as a child, have informed what I hold most dear in as an adult who now resides outside a major city.

As I became a mother, with a career in the fast-paced world of the events industry, I couldn’t help but crave the same childhood experiences for my children. I didn’t want them to miss out on what is so vital for all human beings.

In 2020, we moved to a new home with a blank canvas—a yard that became my sanctuary. I began planting fruit trees, digging a rain garden, and experimenting with native plants. With each seed I planted and each plant I nurtured, I also felt my creativity spark. My yard transformed into a living, breathing work of art—filled with birds, insects, and beauty at every turn.

Through gardening, I rediscovered myself. I learned that there’s a restorative magic in tending to the earth—one that nourishes not just plants, but the soul. Now, my yard is a peaceful space, a place where I feel truly alive.

The need for urban gardens has never been more urgent. They aren’t a luxury—they’re essential for our environment, our health, and our future. Urban gardens offer a powerful, practical way to bring sustainability into our lives.

I’m passionate about helping others create spaces that are not only beautiful but ecologically impactful. Whether you’re new to gardening or an experienced green thumb, I’d love to help you transform your outdoor space into something meaningful. My journey has shown me that gardening is about more than just plants—it’s about creating connections: to the earth, to each other, and to ourselves. I can’t wait to share this journey with you. It’s going to be gorgeous.
